This school was designed with the goals of promoting collaborative learning and meeting LEED Silver Certification requirements. Using thin-set epoxy terrazzo for both sustainability and design flexibility, the terrazzo contractor collaborated closely with the architect to create this 25,590-square-foot artistic rendering of the surrounding landscape. Nature comes indoors with the free form image of a meandering blue stream running through the corridors, brightened with recycled glass and mirror aggregates, with splashes of natural earth tones reminiscent of creek banks. In the center commons area, a grand compass directs young explorers.
